I am looking forward to seeing Whitman friends, teammates, and classmates at the 50th reunion. Here is a quick summary of my last 50 years.
Influenced by Mr. Stavaski’s Architectural classes and Ms. Martinez’s art classes at Walt Whitman. I ended up going to Architecture school and graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. Working as a License Architect for almost 40 years in the DMV area for a large firm. Having the opportunity to work on projects in downtown Bethesda, Rockville, DC and recently Crystal City, changing these skylines to High-rise Residential and Mixed-use Buildings are challenging and a rewarding experience (especially when it is in my hometown Bethesda). I have so many memories of Bethesda during my Whitman days. My first summer job was making pizzas at Mama Teresa’s Pizza place, which used to be located on Old Georgetown Rd and Cordell Ave.
As of this year I started to do Flextirement putting 20 hours per week and easing out of multiple full-time project responsibilities but continue to be a resource for project teams. I am concentrating more of my time on project quality for the firm through 3D visualization software and using VR headsets for walk throughs as they say, see it before you build it.
I have been married for 44 years to Marlies, who I met in college. We have one son who is married, and they have three children, live in LA and one daughter, married, and live in Rockville. Now that we have more time, we have become bi-coastal.
