Update after the 50th: It was great seeing everyone at the reunion, especially those were just vague memories beforehand (which is probably because my brain isn't working as well as it used to)! I retired from The Nature Conservancy about two years ago and am now involved with an adult ESL student and tutoring a couple of elementary school kids in reading and math. I took up knitting about 3 years ago (it was my COVID project) and have a lot of fun learning new stitches and combinations. Bob is still happily retired and after receiving his BS from UNC Chapel Hill and his Masters from University of Michigan, Nathaniel is now a biostatistician living in Ann Arbor, MI.

I'd like to reiterate my invitation to anyone passing through or near Southern Pines NC to please get in touch. Good luck to all!

Original Profile - I am really sorry that I won’t be able to come to the reunion but I do promise to show up for the 45th (I have it on good authority that the organizers of the 40th had such a good time that they are already looking forward to organizing the next one!).

After Whitman, I went to U of MD and then travelled A LOT when that was done (England, Ireland, Israel, Australia, New Zealand). Came back to the US and went to George Washington University, getting an MA in International Relations. In 1987, I moved to NC and then in 1989 got married to Bob Putnam and started worked for The Nature Conservancy (TNC) both of which proved pivotal to my life.

Bob and I have now been married 25 years and I’m just coming up on my 25th anniversary with TNC where I am currently a Programmer/Analyst. We have one son, Nathaniel, who is 19 and just completed his freshman year at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a great kid (and I don’t think I’m being too biased!) who is planning to be a biochemist.

Bob retired about a year ago after working 33 years for the government as a China expert and is having fun catching up on things he didn’t have time to do while he was working. I plan to work for TNC until they stop giving me interesting projects to work on (and since I’m now involved in one that should go until 2018, that won’t be for a while!).

We live in Southern Pines. NC which, for those golf fans, is about 10 minutes from Pinehurst, NC where the Men’s and Women’s US Open Golf tournaments were recently played, so if you’re in the area, please get in touch.
